Undergraduate - Nutrition Programs

Bachelor of Science, Nutrition

Arizona State University offers four Bachelor of Science (BS) options. We offer undergraduate degree programs that focus on all aspects of nutrition, from dietetics to food and nutrition management to human nutrition and nutrition communication. Students in our BS degree programs receive a solid background in nutrition science that combines classroom theory with hands-on application. With a BS degree in nutrition your career possibilities are wide open. Some of the options include becoming a registered dietitian, a food service director, or entrepreneur in the restaurant business, working in the pharmaceutical or food industries, or preparing for medical school, dental, pharmacy or graduate school.

The Bachelor of Science degree has four concentration areas:

Bachelor of Applied Science

The Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree with a concentration in Food Service Management is a flexible degree plan designed to complement and enhance the educational preparation of students holding an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree from a community college. It is particularly aimed at those students with a specialty in culinary or hospitality science. The degree prepares students for careers in food production, service, management and marketing. With additional education and/or professional training, students also may become credentialed as certified dietary managers, school food service and nutrition specialists, or registered sanitarians.

Undergraduate Minor Programs and Certificate Program

The Nutrition programs offers three undergraduate minors for any ASU student interested in learning more about food and nutrition management or human nutrition. Both require completion of specific coursework and a minimum of 18 departmental semester hours. Also available is a Certificate Program in School Nutrition. This certificate program is directed toward current ASU degree-seeking undergraduate students, post-baccalaureate students, and non-degree-seeking students who are seeking eligibility for the SNS credential (School Nutrition Specialist).
